Brief History of Farmers Veterinary Hospital
Dr. Farmer started this practice in 1929, at which time he mostly provided farm stock animal care. In 1970, the practice changed its focus on companion animal medicine (dogs and cats, specifically). The practice has changed ownership only a few times, and Dr. Jason Hall saw the opportunity to continue the tradition of offering quality care to pets when Dr. Teague decided to retire in 2016 (after 42 years!)
Meet the Farmers Veterinary Hospital Team
Dr. Jason Hall
Dr. Jason Hall is a Richmond native, having grown up in Midlothian. Since graduating from veterinary school at the University of Glasgow, Scotland UK in 2007, Dr. Hall has been practicing here in Richmond. He was lucky enough to convince his lovely Irish bride to follow him back to the States, where she also is a practicing veterinarian. They are kept busy otherwise by their two young boys as well as three dogs. When he is not busy taking care of companion animals, Dr. Hall enjoys spending time with his family and going on the odd fishing trip.
Ashton – Office Manager
Born in Lynchburg, VA since a young age I’ve always had a deep passion for animals and an endless thirst for knowledge. In 2010 I found that veterinary medicine was a perfect mix of my two passions when I started my first job at a veterinary hospital as a kennel assistant. Since then I have worked every position in a veterinary hospital and even medical managed a rescue horse farm located in Forest, VA.
Outside of work I enjoy reading, video games, hiking, checking out the local food scene and spending time with my wife Amber and our little zoo of fluffy babies.
Bethany – Groomer
My name is Bethany and I’ve been the groomer here at Farmer’s Veterinary Hospital since 2019. I believe a brushed dog is a loved dog! I‘ve always been blessed with growing up with some great animals. I’ve always loved brushing and caring for them. After getting my associates degree I attended Virginia School of Pet Grooming located in Northern Virginia. There I learned how to safely and professionally groom dogs and cats. I take a lot of pride in my work and look at every animal as a masterpiece. I enjoy seeing clients excited to see their best friend looking their best.
Dustin – Veterinary Assistant
Born in Richmond,VA I’ve been working in the veterinary field since I was 17. I began working at Farmer’s Veterinary Hospital in 2005. In the years I’ve been at Farmer’s I have developed close bonds with many of the client and their beloved pets.
In my free time I like to listen to music, play video games, watch tv, trying different hot spicy foods and spending time with family.
Autumn – Veterinary Assistant
My name is Autumn. I graduated from high school in 2020. Once schools shut down in 2020 I immediately started working here at Farmer’s. My goal is to build my veterinary experience here while I work towards my degree in Veterinary Technology. In my spare time I enjoy listening to a wide range of music and watching superhero/action tv shows. Most of all though I love good food.
Jorge – Veterinary Assistant
I’m originally from Colombia, South America. I joined Farmer’s Veterinary Hospital back in August 2020. My love for animals goes all the way back to my childhood, when I used to spend weekends at my father’s farm.
In my free time I enjoy fishing, riding my Paso Fino horses and spending time with my wife, two young children and our 9 year old Chihuahua. (Chili-because he’s spicy)
Jacobi – Client Service Coordinator
Before coming to work at Farmer’s in September 2020 I worked in the customer service industry for over 10 years and as a result I pride myself on providing excellent experience for our clients. In my current role as a client service coordinator, I can be found providing various forms of assistance and actively listening to the needs and concerns of our clients. I serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare personnel by keeping the lines of communication open. When visiting Farmer’s Veterinary Hospital, clients can expect for me to provide a warm welcome and ensure they are comfortable.
I like to attribute the family oriented atmosphere created by the company and the feeling of family among the staff and clients alike as the things I like most about my job. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and participating in anything where I can be creative, and love traveling.
Emily – Veterinary Assistant
I started working in the veterinary field in 2016 after graduating from Christopher Newport University. Before coming to Farmer’s in March of 2021 I worked as a zoo keeper at Busch Gardens and was medical manager at a horse boarding facility. I have two senior rescue Siberian Huskies (Tegan and Luca), a fluffy cat (Monet) and a large Flemish Giant Rabbit (Yuki). I love animals of all shapes and sizes.
Suzi – Client Service Coordinator
My love of animals began at an early age. I brought home every stray I found; large or small, cat or dog, frogs or snakes (of course these were not allowed in the house), even birds. At age 13 I brought home a horse proudly declaring “I bought him for a dollar!”
Before coming to Farmer’s in August 2021 I have had a diverse career that has always involved animals. I graduated from Meredith Manor Equestrian Center and went on to manage a small dressage/eventing barn in Tennessee. While living in Knoxville, TN, I met my husband Chris. We have been together for 25 years. I then worked for a groomer as a bather and receptionist, which launched my career as a Veterinary Technician. I have trained dogs in obedience, agility, schutzhund and also my own service dog. I’m currently owned by three German Shepherds; Unga, Bunga, Loki and Dougal.
